i recieved my voting summons thingy when i came back home. I would scan it to show u guys who arent voting, but, almost everything on it is sensitive, so oh well, will show it to u if ure around the area eh.

today i'm rather irritated by young pple. no, we're young, but i meant YOUNGER pple. the 18 yr olds. how is it that now THE is now DUH and where did all this young'uns started talking like
"thanks for duh help sweetie, u're such a darl" ?!?!?!?!? it's fucking irritating i tell u. completely derogatory and shallow.
i blame paris hilton.
yeah sure all kids have their fads, but come on, talk like that to someone older than u? i'll just give that lil brat a smack outside the head. "sorry sweetums, don't say "darl" and speak like a proper cultured lady u are! *smack*" in any case, i really do know what to make of the 18 yr olds, i can only wonder how the PAP makes of us 20-30 yr olds who makes up the present to future working population, havent started a family yet etc because of economics. was reading mr wang's commentary on how the gov plans to build "retirement villages", and it's true what he says, that it IS so sad that after slogging for your nation, the gov's grand plan is to transplant u at ur retirement age in a retirement village in indonesia. yes, we vote for u, to stay in power because SG IS A SAFE PLACE THERE WE GET TO OWN PROPERTY WE HAVE SECURITY, only be transplanted to a not-so-safe-place in our retirement,at a time when we're weak and feeble and cant defend ourselves. in effect, the sg of the future is horrendously scary if this is to happen - u will NOT see old pple around, much like u DONT see poor pple around. it's not because they don't exist. rather they are removed from sight. think of the generations of singaporeans to come who will NOT see old pple around, will not know the existence of old-folks homes and the loneliness of growing old alone, or even see old folks peddling tissues at the hawker centre to make ends meet - what kind of pple will the new sg's become i wonder. I mean, when i see old folks working so hard when they are old, i'd only want to take care of my parents when i'm older to make sure THEY wouldnt be in the same situation. thus ... to send them away, to a retirement village, would essentially be breaking the "family as a basic unit of society" national ideology wouldnt it? hmm. great, we had a island for leprosy, soon, we'll have an offshore village for old pple. cool right? out of sight out of mind. :|

so because i started this post on voting, really should end it on voting. i checked out the faces of the pple in the opposition for my area, and well...cant say they look very appealing. i would say the opposition lacks marketing tacticss. haahha...all men, no women, very young mostly in their 30s. one is even 27. i would say that the older generations will still vote for the ruling party, but i think the younger generation would be more adventerous in the vote, because being more educated (it's common now for pple to have at least sec sch education as opposed to our parent's time), they would think that they KNOW as much as the gov, as opposed to the the older generation who owuld say "the gov knows best". though quite frankly the opposition lacks in quality some what, abit young to run a country (if u cant take care of a family, how do u run a country?) but do we really need the country to be run by elitists who have led so far, pretty pampered lives? enthused. i'm rather excited to see what the polls will be like this year, and quite frankly, i'm torn btwn the two - it's not a clear cut competition after all.
