food friends life...not in any order.

was reading blinkymummy's post on how she wore her school uniform clubbing (i'm supposed to be studying i know but hey, i'm blogging lor, even worse. die man. :S) and then i started to wonder:

if zouk got "school uniform night! free entry/drink"

would you wear ur uniform?

if so, which?

(the tp one. haha, can u see me?)

(the chai chee one. :P)

i only have chai chee uniform (white shirt, no badge cuz it's those pin on kind, and blue pleated skirt. very retro), or the tampenis tampines jay-cee uniform which is pale green.

i think i'll op for the chai chee one, man. hahaha. look more normal, less like overboiled grass.

ay wait. maybe i dun have the chai chee one liao..i sold it off online for $35 i think. HMM.

ok so topic for the evening:

there's this thing about hall - they go "ay so poor thing u eating alone, come i seat with u for dinner/tea/breakfast".

pple become friends out of necessity, not really because they make really good friends out of each other.

but then there are some pple who can make friends with anybody, and make their uni-life = hall and all their friends are from hall and their uni life revolves around hall.

i wonder what my life revolves around then?

i guess thats why i never really made any friends in hall, cuz i aint fantastic at putting up a charade.

1- i was never in the "cool" crowd.

2- i was never in the "sporty" crowd.

3 - i'm singaporean. so that excludes me from the "nationality" based crowds like malaysians, prc etc etc.

4- i'm not fluent in speaking mandarin. so that excludes me from the rest of the singaporean crowd.

5 - i'm not an arts or law student, so i cant cut it with that crowd.

but i did how ever, made a friend or two or three from but kinda lost touch with them since i'm not in hall as much, only with brief chats over msn and then thats bout it. then theres some that i thought could be considered friends, that i bump into at school and they shrug and don't really say hi with that much enthusiasm that you would expect from a friend.

don't recognise me is it? why so funny one? perhaps to those that suddenly stopped recognising, became so, because i suddenly stopped being of value to them. when i was their neighbor, i could lend them my brolly on a rainy day. now that i'm not, i'm not even a brolly-lender anymore!

other than that, in my 3rd year, i think those in my cohort and major, that have been taking more or less the same module as i, are starting to recognise each other and we smile hi here and there. sometimes i even get smiles from the least-expected.

when i was working as the waiter, met a few lyf-sigh pple while working, and some even recognised me and said hi. some just chatted with me and discovered that we were in the same batch and same major, shook hands exchanged names...and then saw each other in school but refuse to say hi to each other.

weird huh?

and also i think, money plays a big factor on who are your friends.

i'm sorry, but i cant talk about things like having my own car (or even taking my parents car out for a drive alone eh), the latest handphone/ipod/ishit, the best clothes shoes accessories, perpetual holidays in korea/states/japan/bali, endless year-round clubbing and partying or buying the latest whatever etc etc....because i don't have the money.

i wear what i wear, i dress what i dress....as the bestto what i can afford. tho warddrobe no. experienced an increase lately, but it's only because

1- i have fantastic friends who went to bangkok recently (woot!) and i gave $50 bucks to shop for me.

2 - my sis went to bangkok recently to shop for me

3 - i had a kewl job lobang from chelle which gave me some doh for a few more t shirts.

but prior to that, i only owned 5 t shirts and 2 pairs of jeans. can u believe it?

(ok so i have two guitars, but one of them belonged to my dad ok)

i'm pretty crowdless. but i find that the best friends that i've made and kept in life, are friends that remain friends outside of school, and friends that were made outside of school/work etc.

my childhood friends, sec schoolmates, some pri schoolmates, jc mates, hall mates, miscellaneous uni-mates...i would consider as friends only if we can hang outside of school.

however,

i consider myself extremely lucky. because tho i do not have so many friends until i cant remember names (still considered friends meh), i have friends that are really fantastic people, and it's not like they have never been a source of angst sometimes, but, i would say they were a greater source of joy than anything else, and got me thru many a dark time.

So hey, my life revolves around those who matter to me, and my family, and SPARKIE! hehe.

i prefer investing in people, than in things like CCA or work that i see the people around me investing in so greatly. i would rather invest in people, cuz focusing on the pple also means that the cca and work is "covered" as a "side-effect" but the main focus is on the people.

i'm quite looking forward to the december holidays. wanted to go to bangkok with chelle and all, but then, birdflu so prolly cant go...

but will wait for gillian to say how it was when she leaves dec 2nd ( i think) for HER holiday to bangkok. i'm quite disappointed, cuz i don't really get the chance to travel that much, that last time i left the country was when i was in sec two for a school field trip to MALAYSIA.

:|

so since i got no holiday to look forward to, here's some stuff that i can look forward to:

looking forward too to...

...some shopping for essentials that have been put off for a while, and since thailand trip seems to be falling thru, might prolly have some doh to spend for the hols.

...ohhh...and on the gadget side taking pics with mr jason cuz he said he'll lend me his cam! woot. he says he'll lend me his "spare" fuji, but really i'm eyeing his d70. might get a studio to play around in. maybe will need some models (chelle and shawn? heheh)

...hanging with the friends i havent had much time for lately...chelle pris pj ber pee (sec school gang), rong and jane (childhood gang! woot), aggie and mel (err...secret gang heehhe)..and of cuz.. gilly ally bebe (uni/jc gang) for major chillout sessions over pints of edinger.

...swimming.

...hanging with my family.

...and very importently, getting "driving credits" from my dad over dec so that one fine day he will trust me to be with the car so that i can go bug all u punggol/sengkang pple in the hood at night. muahahah!

just another week till the hols!
