Makan: Hock Lam St Famous Beef Kway Tiao @ Purvis Road

This one's the parents' favourite haunt. :)

the soup's more delicious than the dry version (wait a minute, do they even have dry?), and the quality of soup differs throughout the day.In the midst of the sweltering heat of an afternoon, this steaming bowl of beef kway tiao certainly tastes bloody good.

the chilli, by my standards, is pretty spicy and tastes good too. Situated a walking distance from bugis/suntec/national library in a shophouse, itself is set a little further back than it's neighbors, the immediate of which is a photography studio. It's location also makes parking a hell if you intend to make a drive down, and walking a sight seeing tour.

Price varies from $4-$6-$8 i THINK, can't really remember, and they have the usual choice of briskets, sliced beef, and beef balls (no, not literally. it's beef bakso.)

Drinks are pretty limited i would think, with the usual choice of Yeos and Colas, and it's all self service - ie; go to the fridge and retrieve you own cup of questionable ice. So i would advise that you do without the ice because the can comes nice and chilled from a fridge.

Not my FAVOURITE beef kway tiao, but definately one of the most decent one's around. Tastes better in the day, though the heat is a lot to contend with.

Store:
Hock Lam (Hock Lum?) Street Famous (Popular?) Beef Kway Tiao
Location: Purvis Street.

Price:
Approx. $4-10. Jo fails to remember, was too preoccupied with eating.

How to get there:
Take a walk from bugis or city hall, or just drive down and experience parallel parking hell.

It's a Classic, worth a try!
