abysmal
first trial...i arried ten minutes early but my interviewer was late. he interviewed someone before me - apptment 9.30 am, waited will 10.15. i was told they were looking for two new staff.
sat next to two other contenders for the post - both honours students from china.
the person before me, was also an honours student from china.
so then it was my turn and i chatted with him. first question - did u do urops?
i said no, i wasnt aware it was part of the requirements. he said no it isnt, but it's just to assess my lab skills etc. i said i took a lab module and it was abit like a urops, only less mc and less time required. talked bout my problems encountered and how i overcame them, and how enthusiastic i was etc.
then he ended off with, let me intro u to the lab staff and they will show u around. this is a collective decision i cannot just hire u and impose u on them etc etc.
so i met them. chit chtted. i think one of them really doesnt like me cuz she gave me the eye.
i was the best dressed interviewee i think, because i bothered to wear office clothes and a tote bag. the rest wore jeans and carried school bags.
regretted wearing blusher for the interview, i gathered this office is abit on the chill side after i went in, because staff was in jeans and sneakers. and i guess i might seem abit "showy".
and majority of the staff and pple i met there were foreigners, mostly china chinese. the nicest lady to me showed me around but spoke to me in chinese to which i nodded and smiled most of the time. i understood her, but didnt know how to articulate a reply in chinese.
she told me, the job is ok for 1-2 years but it will get boring. u have to join with the mindset of learning new thigns, and finding thigns to entertain urself at work. and told me how another non-honours student was working there before, worked for 3 years , was really good at his work, but left because it got boring etc.
i wonder what she was trying to tell me.
either way,

Hey hey.
Like I said it, always leave interviews thinking you are never going to get it. Laffs. When you do, be in for a big surprise.
Sometimes, what company looks for is not for what kinda of paper qualifications you got. More of the characteristics that you have as a character.
So is not such a abysmal (big word btw. Laffs!) interview like you wanna believe in it. You never know what happens. Hope for the best. Even if it din turn out the way you want it, is a learning experience.
