Miss May in concert
caught corrine may in concert with gil and ally an hr or two ago. the both of them have to watch a concert and write an essay bout it for their module, so i tagged along for the fun of it.
i must say, she's much better live. i was pleasantly surprised by the music, cuz i never really heard much of her before this show. i got the "chills" to some songs, felt moved almost to tears by some, abit turned off by the more churchy ones, but i came out thinking that she is indeed talented, tho i wouldnt say that i would be a hardcore fan.
and would u believe it? aggie and gang went for the same show too. it was such a coincidence. :P she asked me how to get to noose ucc and i was like "ay! i going for the same show too!" heheh
i actually forgot about it hehe heng she reminded me so i checked with gil "ay when to meet up to go for the show arh?"
because we are poor undergraduates, we sat in the stall seats, tix for $28. so far, but at least, can see piano.
but i have to say, i still dunno what miss may looks like. pple's heads blocked the string players too. haiz. good thing sound is not blocked by big heads.
anyways, miss may was nice enoough to do an encore of 2 songs, and the crowd went wild.
young crowd mah. so WILD lor. got below 21's there ok! (she made a birthday dedication, so we knew.)
waiting for the show to start. obligatory group photo. but, abit blurry cuz it was actually quite dark.
anyhoo,
came back to hall and discovered that tonight's room-check night, whereby a school official and the resident advisor (RA) walks around yelling room check and checkin our matric cards and stuff to see if we are the rightful tenants etc.
i opened the door and let them mark against my name as "checked" and they asked if my neighbor is in, to which i replied "i have never seen her before actually".
and u know what the RA did?
she used the master key and unlocked the door and looked into the room to see if there was anyone living there.
i felt so invaded at the sight of it. ok so u got the right to just walk into any room, BUT, doesnt mean u have to USE the power right? u can always come and check another day what.
what if she was sleeping? and she wakes up to seeing strange pple peering into her room? i feel so cheesed at school's policy of allowing RAs to open room doors. i mean, if the tenant is locked out i understand. but ah, this is just ridiculous lah. u are a TENANT, u have paid RENT for the room,
BUT
u cannot have guests over after 11pm, cannot have friends staying over (of course, renting out your room to others is understandably wrong, but cant u have friends crashing over once in a while? ), cannot leave lights on if you're not around, and u cannot be sure that will wake up in your room ALONE. they call hall a home away from home, but believe me, home is much better, hall is just more convenient.
so remember ladies, latch ur door if u're taking a nap or changing etc. u'll never know when there'll be a check on ur room.
