...Because all things contemplative
yawns. double entry today eh.
was reading the news (today, yesterday? cant remember) where LSL laments on how singaporeans need to have more babies.
doing some calculations, if i have a kid when i'm 26, he or she will be 16 when i hit 42, and i'll be 50 when they hit 24.
having old parents myself, i always thought that if i EVER have children, i would have them when i'm young.
but imagine getting pregnant at 25 and giving birth at 26? this means, that i have bout 3 years to hunt down a mate??
but...
because employer contribution is now 13% (it used to be 20% i think, and some pple now think its 16%...but i checked mine, it says 13%), it's gonna take longer to save for a flat (apparently the income ceiling of $3k dictates that you stay in a 4room or exec flat...4 room cheapest is pasir ris $145k is it?)
so in 3 years,...on my shitty pay and high cost of living,
i'm supposed to
1. save money to pay off my tuition loans
2. save money for a flat (downpayment and cpf etc.)
3. save money for furniture in that flat, lest i sleep and eat on the floor.
4. save money for wedding/children's future (must be married to buy hdb mah)
that's a lot of money for 3 years.
is it any wonder why people are thinking twice bout reproducing?
oh wells.
