...Because it's high time I did
It's time to celebrate pple!
I've tendered my resignation.
My reporting officer was on MC, my Approving Officer was in Shanghai, the admin Manager was on Leave.
But can you imagine...
my AO actually called my RO from Shanghai to tell him what happened, and my RO in his drugged state came down to plead with me not to leave, and in the middle of it, i find myself mildly amused as we replay a scene of a really lousy breakup.
I don't see how "give me face", and "as a friend", "who cares bout the company, stay for me" should matter to me at all.
would a friend ask me to stay? or would the friend say that things will get better so I am asking you to stay because i'm your friend.
there's a line between friendship and work-relationship. not mutually exclusive, but my decision was nothing personal towards him.
I think i've endured quite enough. The bruises, the chemical burns and the other miscellaneous accidents at work. of course, accidents are because of carelessness, but carelessness were a result of being in a hurry all the time, which is in turn a result of a shortage of manpower. to have rush about like a mad woman everyday, running up flights of stairs and running back down....there's something wrong isnt it?
At the end of the day, i know things will get better because of the eventual pulling in of (more?) new staff. but me, being a stickler for "doing the right thing" (damn it, i have morals. who would have thought.), just feel that it shouldnt be such an uphill battle to get more manpower in to improve on workplace safety, and quality of work.
I like producing quality work. to put it bluntly, i hate producing half-fuck work. If i'm actually gonnawaste spend time on something, i'd do it up well, and get the job satisfaction from it.
Would a friend, who have seen you:
1. miss out on your friends and loved ones
2. grow thinner to a stage of worn out gauntness
3. burst into tears in the middle of a working day because you've just lost the ability to cope with stress after having been in a prolonged situation of stress from never ending daily "crisis" that keeps coming up
4. deal with so much responsibility and work so much hours even tho you're new and only 4 months on the job
5.get bruises, cut on the head, acid spills with torn and tattered lab coats
6. Rickety knees, strained muscles, lost of ability for precise delicate movements in my hands (they shake now when i'm spooning things like powder into a dish) due to repetitive muscle strain (heals over time. just havent had enough sleep and rest before i'm back to work for it to heal.)
....would this friend who have seen all that, tell you to stay when you say u're just sick of work, lost the taste for this kind of work, and would like to move on and explore other options ?
i'm not saying, things wont get better, all i'm saying is i've had enough of this kind of job. i've just lost the taste for it.
bah. it's coming to 5 and i'm still fuming.
(ohyeah. i have a feeling my AO didnt acknowledge my letter which i cc'd to HR, an action which HR requires in order to process my notice for resignation. let's see how long my one month's will drag)
night world.
